Fried Sliced Mushrooms with Ranch Dip

Here’s a simple and delicious recipe for Fried Sliced Mushrooms with Ranch Dip — crispy, golden mushrooms with a creamy, tangy dip on the side.


🍄 Fried Sliced Mushrooms

Ingredients:

  • 8 oz (225g) fresh mushrooms (white or cremini), cleaned and sliced

  • 1 cup buttermilk (or milk with 1 tsp lemon juice)

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour

  • ½ cup cornmeal (optional for extra crunch)

  • 1 tsp garlic powder

  • 1 tsp onion powder

  • ½ tsp paprika

  • Salt and pepper to taste

  • Vegetable oil for frying

Instructions:

  1. Soak Mushrooms: Place sliced mushrooms in a bowl and pour the buttermilk over them. Let soak for 15–20 minutes (this helps them stay moist and helps the coating stick).

  2. Prepare Coating: In another bowl, mix flour, cornmeal (if using), garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and pepper.

  3. Heat Oil: In a deep skillet or fryer, heat about 2 inches of oil to 350°F (175°C).

  4. Coat and Fry: Remove mushrooms from buttermilk, dredge them in the flour mixture, pressing lightly to adhere. Fry in batches until golden brown, about 2–3 minutes per side. Don’t overcrowd the pan.

  5. Drain: Remove and place on paper towels to drain. Sprinkle with a little extra salt while hot.


🥣 Quick Ranch Dip

Ingredients:

  • ½ cup mayonnaise

  • ¼ cup sour cream or Greek yogurt

  • 2 tbsp buttermilk or milk (adjust for desired thickness)

  • ½ tsp garlic powder

  • ½ tsp onion powder

  • ½ tsp dried dill (or 1 tsp fresh)

  • 1 tsp parsley (dried or fresh)

  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions:

  1. Whisk all ingredients in a bowl until smooth.

  2. Adjust seasoning and chill for 10–15 minutes before serving.


✅ Serving Tip:

Serve hot mushrooms with a side of chilled ranch dip and perhaps some celery sticks or sliced cucumbers for a full snack platter.
