Easy Roast Chicken

Here’s a simple recipe for roast chicken:

Ingredients:

  • 1 whole chicken (about 3-4 pounds)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil or melted butter
  • Optional: herbs such as thyme, rosemary, or sage

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. Remove the chicken from its packaging and pat it dry with paper towels. This helps to ensure crispy skin.
  3. Season the chicken generously inside and out with salt and pepper. If you like, you can also add some dried herbs or fresh herbs under the skin for extra flavor.
  4. Truss the chicken if desired, but it’s not necessary.
  5. Rub the olive oil or melted butter all over the chicken, ensuring it’s evenly coated.
  6. Place the chicken breast-side up in a roasting pan or baking dish. You can also place it on a rack inside the pan if you have one, which helps air circulate around the chicken for more even cooking.
  7. Roast the chicken in the preheated oven for about 1 hour to 1 hour and 15 minutes, or until the juices run clear and the internal temperature reaches 165°F (75°C) in the thickest part of the thigh.
  8. Once cooked, remove the chicken from the oven and let it rest for about 10-15 minutes before carving. This allows the juices to redistribute throughout the meat, resulting in juicier chicken.
  9. Carve the chicken and serve with your favorite sides.
