Here’s a simple recipe for making manicotti:
Ingredients:
- 1 box of manicotti shells
- 2 cups of ricotta cheese
- 1 cup of shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup of grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 egg
- 2 cloves of garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon of dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon of dried basil
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 cups of marinara sauce
- Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)
Instructions:
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Cook the manicotti shells according to the package instructions. Be careful not to overcook them, as they will continue to cook in the oven. Once cooked, drain them and set aside to cool slightly.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the ricotta cheese, mozzarella cheese, Parmesan cheese, egg, minced garlic, dried oregano, dried basil, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined.
- Using a spoon or a piping bag, stuff each manicotti shell with the cheese mixture. Be careful not to overstuff them, as they may burst during baking.
- Spread a thin layer of marinara sauce on the bottom of a baking dish.
- Arrange the stuffed manicotti shells in the baking dish in a single layer.
- Pour the remaining marinara sauce over the top of the manicotti.
- Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for about 25-30 minutes, or until the manicotti is heated through and the sauce is bubbly.
- Remove the foil and sprinkle some additional mozzarella cheese on top, if desired. Return the baking dish to the oven and bake for an additional 5-10 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and slightly golden.
- Once done, remove the manicotti from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before serving.
- Garnish with fresh parsley if desired, then serve and enjoy your delicious homemade manicotti!
