CRISPY CHEESY HASH BROWNS

Posted on March 4, 2024 by admin

Crispy cheesy hash browns are a delicious breakfast or brunch dish that combines the crispiness of shredded potatoes with the gooey goodness of melted cheese. Here’s a simple recipe to make them:

Ingredients:

  • 4 medium potatoes, peeled and grated
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar, mozzarella, or your favorite melting cheese)
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Cooking oil or butter for frying

Instructions:

  1. Start by grating the peeled potatoes using a box grater or a food processor fitted with a grating attachment. Place the grated potatoes in a clean kitchen towel or cheesecloth and squeeze out as much excess moisture as possible.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the grated potatoes, shredded cheese, flour, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Mix well until everything is evenly distributed.
  3. Heat a large skillet over medium heat and add enough cooking oil or melt butter to coat the bottom of the skillet.
  4. Take a handful of the potato mixture and shape it into a patty. Place it gently into the hot skillet. Repeat with the remaining mixture, making sure not to overcrowd the skillet.
  5. Cook the hash browns for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and crispy. Use a spatula to flip them halfway through cooking.
  6. Once the hash browns are cooked through and crispy on both sides, transfer them to a plate lined with paper towels to drain any excess oil.
  7. Serve the crispy cheesy hash browns hot, garnished with chopped fresh herbs like parsley or chives if desired. Enjoy them as a delicious breakfast or brunch dish alongside eggs, bacon, or your favorite toppings.

These crispy cheesy hash browns are sure to be a hit with your family and friends! Feel free to customize the recipe by adding additional ingredients like diced onions, bell peppers, or cooked bacon for extra flavor.
