crispy air fryer ribs

Posted on January 16, 2024

Making crispy air fryer ribs is a delicious and relatively quick way to enjoy this classic dish. Here’s a simple recipe for crispy air fryer ribs:

Ingredients:

  • 1 rack of baby back ribs
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • Your favorite barbecue sauce

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Ribs:
    • Remove the membrane from the back of the ribs. This helps the seasonings to penetrate better.
    • Pat the ribs dry with paper towels.
  2. Season the Ribs:
    • In a small bowl, mix together garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, dried thyme, salt, and black pepper.
    • Rub the ribs with olive oil, then generously season them with the spice mixture, ensuring both sides are coated.
  3. Preheat the Air Fryer:
    • Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C).
  4. Cook the Ribs:
    • Place the seasoned ribs in the air fryer basket, ensuring they are not overlapping or stacked.
    • Cook for about 25-30 minutes, flipping the ribs halfway through the cooking time. Cooking times may vary depending on your air fryer model, so it’s a good idea to check the manufacturer’s guidelines.
  5. Add Barbecue Sauce:
    • In the last 5-10 minutes of cooking, brush the ribs with your favorite barbecue sauce. This will give them a nice glaze and extra flavor.
  6. Check for Doneness:
    • The ribs are done when they reach an internal temperature of at least 145°F (63°C) for pork. You can use a meat thermometer to check for doneness.
  7. Rest and Serve:
    • Let the ribs rest for a few minutes before slicing. This allows the juices to redistribute.
  8. Optional: Broil for Extra Crispiness:
    • If you want the ribs even crispier, you can transfer them to a preheated oven broiler for a few minutes after air frying. Keep a close eye to avoid burning.

Remember to adjust the cooking times based on your specific air fryer model and the size of the ribs. Enjoy your crispy air fryer ribs!
