Creamy Chicken Tortilla Wraps are a flavorful and easy meal that combines tender chicken with a rich, creamy sauce, all wrapped up in a soft tortilla. Here’s a simple recipe to make them:

Ingredients:

  • For the Chicken Filling:
    • 2 large chicken breasts (or thighs), cooked and shredded
    • 1 tablespoon olive oil
    • 1 small onion, finely chopped
    • 1 bell pepper, chopped (optional)
    • 2 cloves garlic, minced
    • 1/2 cup sour cream or Greek yogurt
    • 1/4 cup cream cheese (optional for extra creaminess)
    • 1/2 cup shredded cheese (cheddar or Mexican blend)
    • 1 teaspoon chili powder
    • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
    • 1/4 teaspoon cumin
    • Salt and pepper to taste
  • For the Wrap:
    • 4 large flour tortillas
    • Fresh cilantro (optional)
    • Salsa or pico de gallo (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Chicken:
    • If you haven’t already, cook the chicken breasts. You can bake, grill, or pan-sear them until fully cooked (about 7-8 minutes per side), then shred the meat with a fork or chop it into bite-sized pieces.
  2. Make the Creamy Filling:
    • Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and bell pepper (if using), and sauté for about 3-4 minutes, until softened.
    • Add minced garlic and cook for another 30 seconds until fragrant.
    • Add the shredded chicken to the pan along with chili powder, paprika, cumin, salt, and pepper. Stir well to combine.
    • Lower the heat and add sour cream, cream cheese, and shredded cheese. Stir until the mixture becomes creamy and the cheese is melted. Taste and adjust seasoning if necessary.
  3. Assemble the Wraps:
    • Warm the tortillas in a dry pan or microwave for 10-15 seconds to make them more pliable.
    • Spoon the creamy chicken mixture onto the center of each tortilla.
    • If desired, add fresh cilantro and a spoonful of salsa or pico de gallo for extra flavor.
    • Fold the sides of the tortilla over the filling and then roll it up tightly.
  4. Serve:
    • Cut the wraps in half at an angle and serve immediately. You can enjoy these with a side of chips, a salad, or extra salsa.

Tips:

  • For a spicier kick, add diced jalapeños to the chicken filling or drizzle some hot sauce inside the wraps.
  • You can substitute the chicken with ground beef, turkey, or a plant-based protein for a variation.
  • Make sure not to overfill the wraps to ensure they roll up properly.
