Creamy Beef & Shells is a comforting and hearty pasta dish made with ground beef, pasta shells, and a rich, creamy sauce. It’s a quick weeknight dinner that’s like a cross between hamburger helper and beef stroganoff.

Here’s a classic recipe to get you started:


🥘 Creamy Beef & Shells Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb ground beef

  • 8 oz medium pasta shells

  • 1 tbsp olive oil or butter

  • 1 small onion, diced

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour

  • 2 cups beef broth (or stock)

  • 1 cup heavy cream (or half-and-half for lighter version)

  • 1 tbsp tomato paste (optional, for richness)

  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning

  • 1/2 tsp paprika (optional)

  • 1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese

  • Salt & pepper, to taste

  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)


Instructions:

  1. Cook the pasta shells in salted boiling water according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.

  2. In a large skillet or pot, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add diced onion and cook until softened (about 3–4 minutes). Add garlic and cook 30 seconds more.

  3. Add ground beef to the pan. Cook until browned and no longer pink. Drain excess grease if necessary.

  4. Sprinkle flour over the beef and stir to coat. Cook for 1–2 minutes to remove the raw flour taste.

  5. Slowly pour in beef broth, stirring constantly to avoid lumps. Add tomato paste (if using), Italian seasoning, and paprika. Stir well.

  6. Add cream, bring to a gentle simmer, and cook for 5–7 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly.

  7. Stir in cooked pasta shells and shredded cheddar cheese. Mix until everything is well coated and cheese is melted.

  8. Taste and season with salt and pepper as needed.

  9. Serve hot, garnished with fresh parsley.
