Condensed milk bread

Posted on February 7, 2025 by admin

Condensed milk bread is a soft, sweet, and fluffy bread that’s perfect for breakfast or snacks. The condensed milk adds richness and a hint of sweetness, making it a treat. Here’s a basic recipe to try:

Ingredients:

  • 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 packet (7g) active dry yeast
  • 1/3 cup condensed milk
  • 1 cup warm milk (about 110°F/43°C)
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tablespoons warm water (for the yeast)

Instructions:

  1. Activate the yeast:
    • In a small bowl, mix the warm water with sugar. Sprinkle the yeast on top and stir until dissolved. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until it becomes frothy.
  2. Prepare the dough:
    • In a large bowl, combine the flour and salt. Add the activated yeast mixture, condensed milk, warm milk, melted butter, and egg. Mix everything together until a dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough:
    • Turn the dough onto a lightly floured surface and knead for about 8-10 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic. You can also use a stand mixer with a dough hook.
  4. First rise:
    • Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover it with a clean kitchen towel or plastic wrap, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1-1.5 hours or until it has doubled in size.
  5. Shape the dough:
    • After the first rise, punch down the dough to release air bubbles. Then, shape the dough into a loaf or divide it into smaller portions to make rolls.
  6. Second rise:
    • Place the shaped dough into a greased loaf pan or baking tray. Cover it with a towel and let it rise for another 30-45 minutes, or until it doubles in size.
  7. Bake:
    • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Brush the top of the dough with a little bit of melted butter for a golden crust. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until the bread is golden brown on top and sounds hollow when tapped on the bottom.
  8. Cool and serve:
    • Let the bread cool on a wire rack before slicing and serving.

Enjoy your delicious condensed milk bread with butter, jam, or just on its own!
