Here’s a simple way to coat chicken in flour and cook it in a slow cooker for a tender, flavorful result:
Flour-Coated Slow Cooker Chicken
Ingredients:
-
4 boneless, skinless chicken thighs or breasts
-
½ cup all-purpose flour
-
1 tsp salt
-
½ tsp black pepper
-
1 tsp paprika (optional)
-
2 tbsp oil (for browning, optional)
-
1 cup chicken broth or cream-based sauce (for cooking)
Instructions:
-
Coat the Chicken:
-
In a shallow dish, mix flour, salt, pepper, and paprika.
-
Dredge each piece of chicken in the flour mixture, pressing lightly so it sticks well.
-
-
(Optional) Brown the Chicken:
-
Heat oil in a skillet over medium-high heat.
-
Brown the coated chicken for 2–3 minutes per side. This adds flavor and helps seal in juices.
-
-
Slow Cook:
-
Place chicken in the slow cooker.
-
Pour chicken broth or sauce over the top.
-
Cover and cook on low for 4–6 hours or high for 2–3 hours, until the chicken is tender and fully cooked.
-
-
Optional – Thicken Sauce:
-
Remove chicken and stir in a cornstarch slurry (1 tbsp cornstarch + 2 tbsp water) into the sauce.
-
Cook on high for 10–15 minutes until thickened.
