Coat chicken in flour and toss in slow cooker

Posted on July 12, 2025

Here’s a simple way to coat chicken in flour and cook it in a slow cooker for a tender, flavorful result:

Flour-Coated Slow Cooker Chicken

Ingredients:

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken thighs or breasts

  • ½ cup all-purpose flour

  • 1 tsp salt

  • ½ tsp black pepper

  • 1 tsp paprika (optional)

  • 2 tbsp oil (for browning, optional)

  • 1 cup chicken broth or cream-based sauce (for cooking)

Instructions:

  1. Coat the Chicken:

    • In a shallow dish, mix flour, salt, pepper, and paprika.

    • Dredge each piece of chicken in the flour mixture, pressing lightly so it sticks well.

  2. (Optional) Brown the Chicken:

    • Heat oil in a skillet over medium-high heat.

    • Brown the coated chicken for 2–3 minutes per side. This adds flavor and helps seal in juices.

  3. Slow Cook:

    • Place chicken in the slow cooker.

    • Pour chicken broth or sauce over the top.

    • Cover and cook on low for 4–6 hours or high for 2–3 hours, until the chicken is tender and fully cooked.

  4. Optional – Thicken Sauce:

    • Remove chicken and stir in a cornstarch slurry (1 tbsp cornstarch + 2 tbsp water) into the sauce.

    • Cook on high for 10–15 minutes until thickened.
