Classic stuffed shells are a delicious and comforting Italian-American dish. Here’s a simple recipe for you to try:
Ingredients:
- 1 box (12-ounce) jumbo pasta shells
- 2 cups ricotta cheese
- 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 large egg
- 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 jar (24-ounce) marinara sauce
- Additional grated Parmesan for topping
Instructions:
- Cook the pasta shells according to the package instructions. Be sure to cook them al dente, as they will continue to cook in the oven. Drain and set aside.
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large mixing bowl, combine ricotta cheese, mozzarella cheese, Parmesan cheese, egg, chopped parsley, oregano, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Mix well until all ingredients are evenly incorporated.
- Pour about half of the marinara sauce into the bottom of a baking dish, spreading it to cover the surface.
- Using a spoon, carefully stuff each cooked pasta shell with the cheese mixture. Arrange the stuffed shells in the baking dish on top of the marinara sauce.
- Once all the shells are stuffed and placed in the baking dish, pour the remaining marinara sauce over the top, covering the shells.
- Sprinkle additional grated Parmesan cheese over the sauce.
- Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for about 25-30 minutes, or until the shells are heated through and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Remove the foil and bake for an additional 5-10 minutes, allowing the cheese to brown slightly.
- Once done, remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before serving.
Serve the classic stuffed shells with a sprinkle of fresh parsley or additional grated Parmesan cheese if desired. Enjoy your delicious and comforting meal!
