Classic Cheeseburger with Ketchup and Fries

Posted on January 5, 2025 by admin

Here’s a simple and classic recipe for a Cheeseburger with Ketchup and Fries:

Ingredients:

For the Cheeseburgers:

  • 1 lb ground beef (preferably 80% lean for juicy burgers)
  • 4 hamburger buns
  • 4 slices of cheese (American, cheddar, or your preferred cheese)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil (for cooking)
  • Salt and pepper (to taste)
  • Optional toppings:
    • Lettuce
    • Tomato slices
    • Onion slices (raw or caramelized)
    • Pickles
    • Ketchup, mustard, or mayo

For the Fries:

  • 2 large russet potatoes
  • 1-2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Salt (to taste)
  • Optional seasonings (garlic powder, paprika, pepper, etc.)

Instructions:

1. Make the Fries:

  1. Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. Peel (optional) and slice the potatoes into thin strips (about ¼ inch thick) for crispy fries.
  3. Toss the potato strips with olive oil and a pinch of salt. You can also add other seasonings like garlic powder, paprika, or pepper at this stage.
  4. Arrange the fries on a baking sheet in a single layer. For crispier fries, avoid overcrowding the pan.
  5. Bake for about 25-30 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden and crispy.

2. Prepare the Cheeseburgers:

  1. Form the beef into patties: Divide the ground beef into 4 equal portions and shape them into patties. Make a small indentation in the center of each patty with your thumb (this helps the burger cook evenly).
  2. Season the patties: Sprinkle each patty generously with salt and pepper on both sides.
  3. Cook the patties:
    • Heat a skillet or grill pan over medium-high heat, and add a tablespoon of olive oil.
    • Once the pan is hot, place the patties in the pan. Cook for 4-5 minutes per side for medium doneness (adjust based on your preference).
  4. Add cheese: About a minute before the patties are done cooking, place a slice of cheese on top of each patty. Cover with a lid to melt the cheese.
  5. Toast the buns: While the patties are cooking, you can toast the hamburger buns in a separate skillet or on a grill for 1-2 minutes until golden brown.

3. Assemble the Cheeseburger:

  1. Spread condiments: On the bottom half of each toasted bun, spread your preferred condiments like ketchup, mustard, or mayo.
  2. Place the cooked patty with melted cheese on the bun.
  3. Add toppings: Layer with lettuce, tomato, onion, and pickles if desired.
  4. Top with the other half of the bun and serve.

4. Serve and Enjoy:

  1. Plate the cheeseburgers with a side of crispy fries.
  2. Serve with extra ketchup for dipping on the side.

Tips:

  • For extra juicy burgers, you can mix a little Worcestershire sauce or Dijon mustard into the ground beef before forming the patties.
  • If you prefer fries with a little extra flavor, sprinkle them with grated Parmesan cheese or fresh herbs (like rosemary) after baking.

Enjoy your delicious, homemade classic cheeseburger with fries! 🍔🍟
