Cinnamon Rolls

Posted on March 2, 2025

Here’s a simple and delicious recipe for Cinnamon Rolls:

Ingredients:

For the dough:

  • 1 cup (240ml) warm milk (about 110°F/43°C)
  • 1/2 cup (120g) granulated sugar
  • 2 1/4 tsp (1 packet) active dry yeast
  • 1/3 cup (80g) unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 eggs
  • 4 cups (480g) all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp salt

For the cinnamon filling:

  • 1/2 cup (115g) unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup (200g) brown sugar
  • 2 1/2 tbsp ground cinnamon

For the icing:

  • 1 cup (120g) powdered sugar
  • 2 tbsp milk
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions:

1. Prepare the dough:

  • In a small bowl, combine warm milk and sugar. Sprinkle the yeast over the milk mixture and let it sit for about 5 minutes until the yeast becomes foamy.
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the melted butter, eggs, and the yeast mixture.
  • Gradually add flour and salt. Mix until the dough comes together and forms a ball.
  • Knead the dough for about 5-7 minutes until it is smooth and elastic. You can do this by hand or with a stand mixer.
  • Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover it with a cloth, and let it rise in a warm spot for about 1 hour, or until it has doubled in size.

2. Make the cinnamon filling:

  • In a small bowl, combine softened butter, brown sugar, and cinnamon. Mix until smooth.

3. Assemble the cinnamon rolls:

  • Once the dough has risen, punch it down to remove air bubbles. Roll it out on a lightly floured surface into a rectangle, about 16×12 inches (40×30 cm).
  • Spread the cinnamon filling evenly over the dough, leaving a small border on the edges.
  • Starting from one edge, roll the dough tightly into a log.
  • Slice the log into 12 equal pieces (you can use dental floss or a serrated knife for clean cuts).
  • Place the rolls into a greased 9×13 inch baking dish, making sure they are touching each other slightly.
  • Cover the dish with a cloth and let the rolls rise for another 30 minutes.

4. Bake:

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Bake the rolls for 20-25 minutes, or until they are golden brown on top.

5. Make the icing:

  • While the rolls are baking, whisk together the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract in a bowl until smooth.

6. Finish and serve:

  • Once the cinnamon rolls are done baking, remove them from the oven and let them cool slightly.
  • Drizzle the icing over the warm rolls.
  • Serve and enjoy your homemade cinnamon rolls!

These are perfect for breakfast, brunch, or any time you’re craving something sweet and comforting!
