Here’s a simple and delicious cinnamon bun recipe for you!
Ingredients:
For the dough:
- 1 cup warm milk (110°F)
- 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tsp salt
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
For the cinnamon filling:
- 1 cup brown sugar, packed
- 2 1/2 tbsp ground cinnamon
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
For the glaze:
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 2 tbsp milk
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
Directions:
- Make the dough:
- In a bowl, combine warm milk, yeast, and sugar. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes, until it becomes frothy.
- Add the melted butter, eggs, salt, and 2 cups of flour to the yeast mixture. Stir to combine.
- Gradually add the remaining flour, a little at a time, until the dough is smooth and pulls away from the sides of the bowl. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes, or until it’s soft and elastic.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a clean towel, and let it rise for about 1-2 hours, until it doubles in size.
- Prepare the cinnamon filling:
- In a small bowl, mix the brown sugar and cinnamon.
- Spread the softened butter over the surface of the dough, then sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar mixture evenly on top.
- Shape the cinnamon rolls:
- Once the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out into a large rectangle (about 12×18 inches).
- Spread the cinnamon-butter mixture evenly over the dough.
- Starting from the longer side, carefully roll the dough into a log. Cut the log into 12 equal pieces.
- Arrange the rolls in a greased baking dish, leaving a little space between each roll.
- Second rise:
- Cover the rolls with a towel and let them rise for about 30 minutes, or until they puff up.
- Bake:
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the rolls for 25-30 minutes, or until they are golden brown.
- Glaze:
- While the rolls are baking, whisk together powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract to make the glaze.
- Once the rolls are done, drizzle the glaze over the warm buns.
Enjoy your homemade cinnamon buns! They’re perfect for breakfast or a cozy treat.
