Here’s a delicious recipe for chocolate chip buns that you can try at home!

Ingredients

For the Dough:

  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 packet (2 1/4 teaspoons) active dry yeast
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup warm milk (about 110°F or 43°C)
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 large eggs

For the Filling:

  • 1 cup chocolate chips (semi-sweet or milk chocolate)

For the Topping (optional):

  • 1/4 cup melted butter
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Dough:
    • In a large mixing bowl, combine the warm milk and sugar. Sprinkle the yeast on top and let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until it becomes frothy.
    • Add melted butter, eggs, and salt to the yeast mixture. Mix well.
    • Gradually add the flour, one cup at a time, mixing until a soft dough forms.
    • Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
    • Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1-1.5 hours or until it doubles in size.
  2. Shape the Buns:
    • Once the dough has risen, punch it down to release air. Roll it out on a floured surface into a rectangle (about 1/2 inch thick).
    • Sprinkle the chocolate chips evenly over the dough.
    • Roll the dough tightly from one long edge to the other to form a log. Cut the log into 12 equal pieces.
  3. Second Rise:
    • Place the cut buns in a greased baking dish, spaced slightly apart. Cover and let them rise for another 30-45 minutes until they puff up.
  4. Preheat the Oven:
    • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  5. Bake the Buns:
    • Bake the buns in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown.
  6. Optional Topping:
    • While the buns are baking, mix together the melted butter, sugar, and cinnamon in a small bowl.
    • Once the buns are done, brush them with the butter mixture while they’re still warm.
  7. Cool and Serve:
    • Allow the buns to cool for a few minutes before serving. Enjoy warm or at room temperature!

Tips

  • You can add nuts or dried fruits to the filling for extra flavor.
  • These buns are great for breakfast or as a sweet snack!
