Cheesy Jalapeño Focaccia Bread

Posted on August 18, 2024 by admin

Cheesy Jalapeño Focaccia Bread is a flavorful twist on the classic Italian bread, combining the rich, savory taste of cheese with the spicy kick of jalapeños. Here’s a recipe to make it at home:

Ingredients:

  • Dough:
    • 4 cups all-purpose flour
    • 1 ½ cups warm water (about 110°F)
    • 2 ¼ tsp active dry yeast (1 packet)
    • 2 tsp sugar
    • 1 tsp salt
    • ¼ cup olive oil, plus more for greasing
  • Toppings:
    • 1 ½ cups shredded mozzarella cheese (or your favorite cheese)
    • 2-3 fresh jalapeños, thinly sliced
    • 2 cloves garlic, minced
    • 1 tbsp fresh rosemary, chopped (optional)
    • Coarse sea salt, for sprinkling
    • Extra olive oil, for drizzling

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Dough:
    • In a large mixing bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Stir gently and let it sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy.
    • Add the flour, salt, and ¼ cup olive oil to the yeast mixture. Mix until a soft dough forms.
    • Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
    • Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1-2 hours or until doubled in size.
  2. Shape the Dough:
    • Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
    • Punch down the dough and transfer it to a greased baking sheet or a cast-iron skillet.
    • Use your fingers to spread and press the dough out into a thick, even layer. Dimple the dough all over with your fingertips.
  3. Add Toppings:
    • Drizzle the dough generously with olive oil.
    • Evenly distribute the shredded cheese over the surface of the dough.
    • Arrange the sliced jalapeños on top of the cheese.
    • Sprinkle the minced garlic and chopped rosemary (if using) over the top.
    • Finish with a sprinkle of coarse sea salt.
  4. Bake:
    • Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until the bread is golden brown, and the cheese is bubbly and slightly browned.
    • Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before cutting.
  5. Serve:
    • Slice the focaccia into squares or wedges and serve warm. It’s perfect as a snack, appetizer, or alongside a meal.

Enjoy your homemade Cheesy Jalapeño Focaccia Bread!
