Cheesy Herb Quick Bread

Posted on April 13, 2025

Here’s a simple and delicious Cheesy Herb Quick Bread recipe — no yeast, no waiting around for dough to rise. Just mix, bake, and enjoy warm cheesy goodness in under an hour!

🧀 Cheesy Herb Quick Bread

Prep Time: 10 mins
Bake Time: 45–50 mins
Total Time: ~1 hour
Yields: 1 loaf (about 10 slices)

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour

  • 1 tbsp baking powder

  • ½ tsp baking soda

  • ½ tsp salt

  • ½ tsp garlic powder

  • 1 tsp dried herbs (like thyme, oregano, rosemary, or Italian seasoning)

  • ¼ tsp black pepper

  • 1½ cups shredded cheese (cheddar, mozzarella, or a mix)

  • 2 tbsp chopped fresh parsley (optional for extra flavor)

  • 1 cup buttermilk (or sub with 1 cup milk + 1 tbsp lemon juice or vinegar, let sit 5 mins)

  • 1 large egg

  • ¼ cup unsalted butter, melted and cooled

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease or line a standard loaf pan (9×5 inch).

  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, garlic powder, herbs, and black pepper.

  3. Stir in the shredded cheese and parsley until coated with flour (helps prevent clumping).

  4. In another bowl, whisk together the buttermilk, egg, and melted butter.

  5. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry and stir until just combined. Do not overmix — batter will be thick.

  6. Spoon batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top.

  7. Bake for 45–50 minutes, or until golden on top and a toothpick comes out clean.

  8. Let cool in pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.

💡 Tips

  • Add-ins: Try crumbled bacon, sun-dried tomatoes, or chopped olives.

  • Cheese ideas: Sharp cheddar, Gruyère, Monterey Jack, or a spicy pepper jack.

  • Serve with soups, chili, or just warm with butter — it’s addictively good.
