Cheesy Garlic Bread Sloppy Joes

Ingredients

For the Garlic Bread:

  • 1 loaf of French bread, cut in half lengthwise
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, softened
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese

For the Sloppy Joes:

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 1/2 green bell pepper, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup tomato sauce
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon mustard
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

Prepare the Garlic Bread:

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a bowl, mix together the softened butter, minced garlic, parsley, garlic powder, and salt.
  3. Spread the garlic butter mixture evenly on the cut sides of the French bread.
  4. Place the bread on a baking sheet, cut side up.
  5. Sprinkle the Parmesan cheese evenly over the bread.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for about 10 minutes, or until the bread starts to turn golden brown.

Make the Sloppy Joes:

  1. While the bread is baking, cook the ground beef in a large skillet over medium-high heat until browned. Drain any excess fat.
  2. Add the chopped onion, green bell pepper, and minced garlic to the skillet. Cook until the vegetables are tender, about 5 minutes.
  3. Stir in the tomato sauce, ketchup, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, mustard, salt, and pepper. Reduce the heat to low and let the mixture simmer for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Assemble:

  1. Once the bread is golden brown, remove it from the oven.
  2. Top the garlic bread with the sloppy joe mixture, spreading it evenly.
  3. Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese over the top of the sloppy joe mixture.
  4. Return the bread to the oven and bake for an additional 5-7 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  5. Remove from the oven, let cool slightly, then slice and serve.
