Cheesy Cabbage Casserole

Here’s a comforting and easy Cheesy Cabbage Casserole recipe — creamy, cheesy, and full of flavor!


🧀 Cheesy Cabbage Casserole

Ingredients:

  • 1 medium head of green cabbage, chopped

  • 1 medium onion, diced

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 tbsp butter or olive oil

  • 1 cup sour cream

  • 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom (or chicken) soup

  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese (divided)

  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese

  • ½ tsp salt

  • ½ tsp black pepper

  • ½ tsp paprika

  • ½ tsp dried thyme (optional)

  • 1 cup crushed Ritz crackers or breadcrumbs

  • 2 tbsp melted butter (for topping)


Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a 9×13″ baking dish.

  2. Sauté vegetables:

    • In a large skillet, melt butter over medium heat.

    • Add onion and garlic, cook for 2–3 minutes.

    • Add chopped cabbage, cook for 8–10 minutes until soft and slightly caramelized. Season with salt, pepper, paprika, and thyme.

  3. Mix filling:

    • In a bowl, mix sour cream, cream of mushroom soup, 1½ cups cheddar cheese, and Parmesan cheese.

    • Add sautéed cabbage mixture and stir well to combine.

  4. Assemble casserole:

    • Pour the mixture into the prepared baking dish.

    • Top with remaining ½ cup cheddar cheese.

  5. Add topping:

    • Mix crushed crackers with melted butter and sprinkle over the casserole.

  6. Bake:

    • Bake uncovered for 25–30 minutes or until bubbly and golden on top.
