Cheesy beef taco pockets are a delicious and convenient way to enjoy the flavors of a classic beef taco in a portable and handheld form. Here’s a simple recipe for you to try:

Ingredients:

For the Filling:

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 packet taco seasoning
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

For the Pockets:

  • 1 package refrigerated biscuit dough (or use crescent roll dough)
  • Cooking spray or olive oil for brushing

Optional Toppings:

  • Salsa
  • Sour cream
  • Diced tomatoes
  • Shredded lettuce
  • Sliced jalapeƱos

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven according to the instructions on the biscuit dough package.
  2. Cook the Filling: In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until browned. Drain excess fat.
  3. Add Aromatics: Add chopped onions and minced garlic to the skillet. Cook until the onions are softened.
  4. Season the Filling: Stir in the taco seasoning and water. Simmer until the mixture thickens and is well combined. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.
  5. Prepare the Dough: Roll out each biscuit or separate the crescent roll dough into individual triangles.
  6. Fill the Dough: Spoon a portion of the beef filling onto the center of each piece of dough. Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese on top.
  7. Fold and Seal: Fold the dough over the filling to create a pocket and seal the edges by pressing with a fork.
  8. Bake: Place the filled pockets on a baking sheet, leaving some space between each. Bake according to the instructions on the biscuit dough package or until the pockets are golden brown and cooked through.
  9. Serve: Allow the taco pockets to cool slightly before serving. Optionally, top with salsa, sour cream, diced tomatoes, shredded lettuce, or sliced jalapeƱos.
