Cheese fries made from boiled potatoes offer a delicious twist on the classic dish. Here’s a simple recipe you can follow:

Ingredients:

  • 4 large potatoes
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (or your preferred cheese)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Salt, to taste
  • Black pepper, to taste
  • Optional toppings: bacon bits, chopped green onions, sour cream, or any other toppings you prefer.

Instructions:

  1. Boil the Potatoes:
    1. Peel and cut the potatoes into thick fries or wedges.
    2. Place the potatoes in a large pot and cover with cold water. Add a pinch of salt.
    3. Bring the water to a boil, then reduce the heat and simmer for about 10-15 minutes, until the potatoes are tender but not falling apart.
    4. Drain the potatoes and let them cool slightly.
  2. Prepare for Baking:
    1. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
    2. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it.
  3. Season and Bake:
    1. Place the boiled potatoes on the baking sheet.
    2. Drizzle the olive oil over the potatoes, and sprinkle with salt and black pepper. Toss gently to coat evenly.
    3. Arrange the potatoes in a single layer on the baking sheet.
    4. Bake in the preheated oven for about 20-25 minutes, turning halfway through, until the potatoes are golden and crispy.
  4. Add Cheese:
    1. Remove the baking sheet from the oven and sprinkle the shredded cheese evenly over the fries.
    2. Return the baking sheet to the oven and bake for an additional 5 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  5. Serve:
    1. Remove the cheese fries from the oven and transfer to a serving platter.
    2. Add any optional toppings like bacon bits, chopped green onions, or a dollop of sour cream.
  6. Enjoy:
    1. Serve the cheese fries hot and enjoy!
