Candy cake with candy sauce

Posted on March 21, 2025 by admin

A candy cake with candy sauce sounds like a fun and sweet treat! Here’s an idea for how you could make it:

Candy Cake Ingredients:

  • For the cake:

    • 2 cups all-purpose flour
    • 1 cup sugar
    • 1/2 cup unsalted butter (softened)
    • 3 large eggs
    • 1 tsp vanilla extract
    • 1/2 cup milk
    • 1 tsp baking powder
    • 1/2 tsp salt
    • 1/2 cup finely chopped candy (like M&Ms, gummy bears, or Skittles)
  • For the candy sauce:

    • 1/2 cup candy (M&Ms, Skittles, or any colorful candy of your choice)
    • 1/2 cup heavy cream
    • 1/4 cup butter
    • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
    • A pinch of salt (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Make the cake:

    1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease and flour your cake pans.
    2. In a large mixing bowl, cream the softened butter and sugar together until light and fluffy.
    3. Add in the eggs, one at a time, and beat well after each addition. Mix in the vanilla extract.
    4. In a separate bowl, whisk the flour, baking powder, and salt together. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with the milk, beginning and ending with the dry ingredients. Mix until just combined.
    5. Gently fold in your chopped candy pieces (you can use your favorite candy or a mix).
    6. Pour the batter evenly into your prepared cake pans and bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
    7. Let the cakes cool completely before frosting.
  2. Make the candy sauce:

    1. In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter and heavy cream together.
    2. Add the candy pieces and stir until they melt into the mixture. You may need to stir constantly to make sure it doesn’t burn.
    3. Once the candy is fully melted, stir in the powdered sugar and salt, continuing to cook until the sauce thickens a little, about 2-3 minutes.
    4. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly before drizzling over the cake.
  3. Assemble the cake:

    • Once the cake layers are cool, stack them and pour the candy sauce generously over the top. You can even let some of the sauce drip down the sides for a fun effect.
    • Optionally, sprinkle extra chopped candy on top for some extra crunch and color!
