Here’s a simple recipe for Cabbage Fritters:

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups cabbage, finely shredded
  • 1/2 small onion, finely chopped
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup breadcrumbs (optional, for extra crunch)
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tbsp fresh parsley or cilantro, chopped
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/4 tsp ground black pepper
  • 1/4 tsp smoked paprika (optional)
  • Salt to taste
  • 1/4 cup grated cheese (optional, cheddar or parmesan work well)
  • Oil for frying

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the cabbage: Blanch the shredded cabbage in boiling water for 2-3 minutes, then drain and cool. Squeeze out any excess water using a clean towel or paper towels.
  2. Mix the ingredients: In a large bowl, combine the shredded cabbage, onion, flour, breadcrumbs (if using), egg, parsley or cilantro, garlic powder, pepper, paprika, salt, and cheese. Mix well until all ingredients are evenly distributed.
  3. Form the fritters: Take spoonfuls of the mixture and form small patties. You can flatten them slightly for even cooking.
  4. Fry the fritters: Heat oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Fry the fritters for 3-4 minutes on each side or until golden brown and crispy.
  5. Drain and serve: Place the fritters on a plate lined with paper towels to remove excess oil. Serve warm with your favorite dipping sauce (like sour cream, garlic aioli, or yogurt dip).

Tips:

  • You can add grated carrots or zucchini to the mixture for a more colorful and nutritious variation.
  • If you prefer a gluten-free version, you can use almond flour or gluten-free breadcrumbs.

Enjoy your crispy cabbage fritters!
