Bread in Fry Pan

Sure! Here’s a simple and quick recipe for making bread in a frying pan.

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 3/4 cup buttermilk (or regular milk with a squeeze of lemon juice or vinegar)
  • 1/4 cup water (adjust as needed)
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter or oil

Instructions:

  1. Mix Dry Ingredients:
    • In a large bowl, combine the flour, sugar, salt, baking powder, and baking soda. Mix well.
  2. Add Wet Ingredients:
    • Make a well in the center of the dry ingredients and pour in the buttermilk and melted butter. Mix to form a dough. If the dough is too dry, add a little water, a tablespoon at a time, until it comes together.
  3. Knead the Dough:
    • Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 2-3 minutes until smooth. Let it rest for 5-10 minutes.
  4. Shape the Dough:
    • Divide the dough into 6-8 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a ball and then flatten it into a disc about 1/2 inch thick.
  5. Heat the Frying Pan:
    • Heat a non-stick frying pan or cast iron skillet over medium heat. Brush with a little oil or butter.
  6. Cook the Bread:
    • Place the dough discs in the frying pan, ensuring they don’t touch each other. Cook for about 3-4 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and cooked through. You may need to adjust the heat to prevent burning.
  7. Serve:
    • Remove the bread from the pan and let it cool slightly on a wire rack. Serve warm with your favorite toppings or as a side with meals.

Tips:

  • You can add herbs, cheese, or garlic to the dough for extra flavor.
  • If you prefer a softer bread, cover the pan with a lid while cooking.
