Here’s a BEST Grilled Cheese Burrito recipe inspired by the famous fast-food version—extra cheesy, beefy, and crispy with a golden grilled exterior:


🌯 Best Grilled Cheese Burrito

🧀 Ingredients:

For the Filling:

  • 1 lb ground beef

  • 1 packet taco seasoning

  • 1/2 cup water

  • 1 cup cooked rice (optional: seasoned with lime & cilantro)

  • 1 cup nacho cheese sauce or shredded cheddar

  • 1/2 cup sour cream

  • 1/2 cup salsa or pico de gallo

  • 1/2 cup crushed tortilla chips (for crunch)

  • 1/2 cup shredded lettuce (optional)

For Assembly:

  • 4 large burrito-size flour tortillas

  • 1 1/2 cups shredded cheese (cheddar, Monterey Jack, or a mix)

  • 1 tbsp butter or oil (for grilling)


🔥 Directions:

  1. Cook the Beef
    In a skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef. Drain excess fat. Add taco seasoning and 1/2 cup water. Simmer until thickened (about 5 min).

  2. Prepare Other Fillings
    Warm the rice and nacho cheese sauce. Set out sour cream, salsa, chips, and any other toppings.

  3. Assemble the Burrito
    Lay out a tortilla. In the center, layer:

    • Nacho cheese

    • Seasoned beef

    • Rice

    • Sour cream

    • Salsa

    • Crushed chips

    • Lettuce (if using)

  4. Fold It Up
    Fold sides in, then roll tightly into a burrito.

  5. Grill with Cheese

    • Sprinkle about 1/4 cup shredded cheese in a skillet over medium heat.

    • Place the burrito seam-side down on top of the cheese.

    • Grill until the cheese melts and forms a crispy crust (2–3 min), then flip and repeat on the other side if desired.

  6. Serve
    Let it rest for a minute before slicing. Serve with extra sour cream or salsa for dipping!
