Beef and Pepper Rice Bowl

A Beef and Pepper Rice Bowl is a delicious and easy-to-make meal that’s packed with savory flavors. Here’s a simple recipe for you to try:

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb (450g) beef (sirloin, flank steak, or ground beef)

  • 1 bell pepper (red, green, or yellow), sliced

  • 1 onion, thinly sliced

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • 2 tbsp soy sauce

  • 2 tbsp oyster sauce (optional)

  • 1 tbsp hoisin sauce (optional)

  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar or apple cider vinegar

  • 1 tbsp sesame oil

  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil

  • 2 cups cooked rice (white, brown, or jasmine)

  • Salt and pepper to taste

  • Garnishes: green onions, sesame seeds, chili flakes (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Rice:

    • Cook your rice according to the package instructions, or use leftover rice if you have some on hand.

  2. Prepare the Beef:

    • If using a steak, thinly slice it against the grain. If using ground beef, you can skip this step.

  3. Stir-Fry the Beef:

    • Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat.

    • Add the beef (either sliced or ground) to the pan and cook until browned. If using sliced beef, remove it from the pan once browned and set aside.

  4. Cook the Vegetables:

    • In the same pan, add another tablespoon of oil, followed by the sliced onions and peppers. Cook for about 3-4 minutes until they start to soften.

    • Add the minced garlic and cook for an additional minute until fragrant.

  5. Combine Everything:

    • Return the beef to the pan with the vegetables.

    • Add the soy sauce, oyster sauce, hoisin sauce, and rice vinegar. Stir everything together and cook for 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly and the beef is fully cooked.

  6. Serve:

    • Spoon the cooked rice into bowls.

    • Top with the beef and pepper mixture.

    • Drizzle with sesame oil, and garnish with green onions, sesame seeds, or chili flakes if desired.

  7. Enjoy!
