Beef and Egg Noodles

Here’s a simple and delicious recipe for Beef and Egg Noodles:

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb beef sirloin or flank steak, thinly sliced
  • 12 oz egg noodles
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 medium onion, thinly sliced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1/4 cup water
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Optional: 1 cup sliced mushrooms, 1 cup snow peas or green beans

Instructions:

  1. Cook the Egg Noodles:
    • Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil.
    • Add the egg noodles and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  2. Prepare the Beef:
    • In a large skillet or wok, heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil over medium-high heat.
    • Add the beef slices and season with salt and pepper. Stir-fry until the beef is browned and cooked through, about 4-5 minutes. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
  3. Cook the Vegetables:
    • In the same skillet, add the remaining 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil.
    • Add the sliced onion and cook until translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
    • Add the minced garlic (and optional mushrooms and snow peas or green beans if using) and cook for another 2-3 minutes until fragrant and slightly tender.
  4. Make the Sauce:
    • In a small bowl, mix the beef broth, soy sauce, and Worcestershire sauce.
    • In another small bowl, dissolve the cornstarch in 1/4 cup of water to make a slurry.
  5. Combine Everything:
    • Return the cooked beef to the skillet with the vegetables.
    • Pour the beef broth mixture over the beef and vegetables.
    • Bring to a simmer and cook for about 2-3 minutes.
    • Stir in the cornstarch slurry and cook until the sauce has thickened, about 1-2 minutes.
  6. Add the Noodles:
    • Add the cooked egg noodles to the skillet.
    • Toss everything together until the noodles are well coated with the sauce and all ingredients are evenly distributed.
  7. Serve:
    • Taste and adjust the seasoning with salt and pepper if needed.
    • Serve hot, garnished with fresh herbs like parsley or green onions if desired.
