Beef and Cheese Tortellini Bake
Ingredients:
- 1 lb (450g) ground beef
- 1 package (20 oz) cheese tortellini (fresh or frozen)
- 1 jar (24 oz) marinara or pasta sauce
- 1 cup ricotta or cottage cheese
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 small onion, diced
- 3 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tsp Italian seasoning
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- Fresh basil or parsley (optional, for garnish)
Instructions:
- Preheat Oven:
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). - Cook Tortellini:
Cook the cheese tortellini according to the package instructions. Drain and set aside. - Cook Ground Beef:
Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the diced onion and cook until softened, about 3-4 minutes. Add minced garlic and cook for another minute. - Brown the Beef:
Add the ground beef to the skillet and cook until browned, breaking it up into small crumbles. Drain any excess fat. Season with Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. - Add Marinara Sauce:
Pour the marinara sauce into the skillet with the cooked beef. Stir to combine and simmer for 5 minutes. - Assemble the Bake:
In a large baking dish (9×13 inches), spread half of the beef and sauce mixture at the bottom. Add the cooked tortellini on top in an even layer. Spread dollops of ricotta (or cottage cheese) over the tortellini. Pour the remaining beef and sauce mixture on top. - Add Cheese Toppings:
Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese and grated Parmesan evenly over the top. - Bake:
Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 20 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly. - Garnish and Serve:
Remove from the oven, and let the dish cool slightly. Garnish with fresh basil or parsley if desired. Serve and enjoy!
This dish pairs wonderfully with a side salad or garlic bread. Enjoy your hearty, cheesy, and delicious tortellini bake!
