Posted on January 19, 2024

Baked ham with brown sugar glaze is a delicious and classic dish that’s perfect for holidays, special occasions, or any time you want to enjoy a flavorful ham. Here’s a simple recipe for you to try:

Ingredients:

  • 1 bone-in ham (around 8-10 pounds)
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1/2 cup Dijon mustard
  • 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 1/4 cup pineapple juice
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 325°F (163°C).
  2. Prepare the Ham:
    • If your ham is not pre-cooked, make sure to cook it thoroughly according to the package instructions.
    • Score the surface of the ham in a diamond pattern, about 1/4 inch deep.
  3. Prepare the Glaze: In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine brown sugar, Dijon mustard, apple cider vinegar, pineapple juice, ground cloves, and ground cinnamon. Stir well until the brown sugar is completely dissolved.
  4. Apply the Glaze:
    • Place the ham on a rack in a roasting pan.
    • Brush the ham with the prepared brown sugar glaze, making sure to get the glaze into the scored lines.
  5. Bake the Ham:
    • Cover the ham with aluminum foil to prevent excessive browning.
    • Bake the ham in the preheated oven for about 15-20 minutes per pound or until it reaches an internal temperature of 140°F (60°C). Baste the ham with the glaze every 30 minutes.
  6. Final Glaze:
    • About 30 minutes before the ham is done, remove the foil and generously brush the ham with the glaze for a final time.
  7. Rest and Serve:
    • Once the ham reaches the desired temperature, remove it from the oven and let it rest for 15-20 minutes before carving.
    • Slice and serve the ham with any remaining glaze on the side.

Enjoy your delicious baked ham with brown sugar glaze! This recipe adds a perfect balance of sweetness and tanginess to the ham, making it a crowd-pleaser.
