Baked Meatballs with Cheese

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb ground beef or turkey (for the meatballs)
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 cup chopped parsley (optional)
  • 1 egg
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 cups marinara sauce
  • 1-1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup shredded Parmesan cheese
  • Fresh basil or parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Make the Meatballs:
    • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
    • In a bowl, mix the ground meat, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, parsley, egg, garlic, salt, and pepper. Combine well.
    • Shape the mixture into 1-inch meatballs and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
    • Bake the meatballs for about 15 minutes, or until they’re cooked through and slightly golden on the outside.
  2. Assemble the Dish:
    • In a baking dish, pour a thin layer of marinara sauce to cover the bottom.
    • Once the meatballs are done, transfer them into the baking dish, nestling them in the sauce.
    • Pour the remaining marinara sauce over the meatballs.
    • Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses evenly over the top.
  3. Bake:
    • Place the baking dish in the oven and bake for 10-15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  4. Serve:
    • Once the cheese is golden and bubbling, remove from the oven and garnish with fresh basil or parsley if desired.
    • Serve with pasta, garlic bread, or a side of vegetables.
