Here’s a flavorful recipe for Spicy Chicken Drumsticks:

Ingredients:

  • 8 chicken drumsticks
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon paprika
  • 1 tablespoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper (adjust for heat level)
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika (optional, for extra flavor)
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon honey (optional, for a touch of sweetness)
  • Fresh cilantro or parsley for garnish (optional)
  • Lime wedges (for serving)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Marinade:
    • In a small bowl, mix together the paprika, chili powder, cayenne pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, cumin, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper.
    • Add the olive oil and honey (if using) to the spice mixture and stir to combine, forming a thick paste.
  2. Coat the Chicken:
    • Rub the spice paste all over the chicken drumsticks, making sure they are fully coated. For best results, marinate the chicken for at least 30 minutes to an hour, or overnight in the fridge.
  3. Preheat the Oven or Grill:
    • If using an oven, preheat to 400°F (200°C). If grilling, heat the grill to medium-high.
  4. Cook the Drumsticks:
    • Oven Method: Place the drumsticks on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper or aluminum foil. Bake for 30-35 minutes, flipping halfway through, until the chicken is cooked through and the skin is crispy.
    • Grill Method: Place the drumsticks on the grill and cook for 20-25 minutes, turning occasionally to ensure even cooking, until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (75°C).
  5. Serve:
    • Garnish with fresh cilantro or parsley and serve with lime wedges for an extra zesty kick.

Tips:

  • For extra crispy skin, you can broil the drumsticks in the oven for an additional 2-3 minutes after baking.
  • Serve with a side of cooling yogurt dip, ranch, or your favorite hot sauce for extra heat.
