Here’s a simple recipe for soft and fluffy bread paired with a delicious chickpea spread.

Soft and Fluffy Bread Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 3 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tsp active dry yeast
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 cup warm milk
  • ¼ cup butter (melted)
  • 1 egg (beaten)

Instructions:

  1. Activate Yeast: In a small bowl, mix the warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 5–10 minutes until it becomes frothy.
  2. Mix Dough: In a large bowl, combine flour and salt. Add the yeast mixture, melted butter, and the beaten egg.
  3. Knead: Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for about 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. First Rise: Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
  5. Shape: Punch down the dough and shape it into rolls or a loaf.
  6. Second Rise: Place the shaped dough on a greased baking sheet or pan and let it rise again for 30–45 minutes.
  7. Bake: Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Bake for 20–25 minutes, until golden brown on top. Let cool before serving.

Chickpea Spread Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1 can (15 oz) chickpeas (drained and rinsed)
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tbsp tahini (optional)
  • 2 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 garlic clove (minced)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • ½ tsp ground cumin
  • Water (to adjust consistency)

Instructions:

  1. Blend: In a food processor, combine chickpeas, olive oil, tahini, lemon juice, garlic, cumin, salt, and pepper.
  2. Adjust Consistency: Blend until smooth, adding water one tablespoon at a time if needed to achieve your desired texture.
  3. Serve: Spread over the soft bread, garnish with a drizzle of olive oil or sprinkle of paprika.
