Mini Air Fryer Blooming Onions

Posted on July 3, 2024 by admin

Here’s a simple and delicious recipe for Mini Air Fryer Blooming Onions:

Ingredients:

  • 2 small onions
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • Cooking spray

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Onions:
    • Peel the onions and cut off the top, leaving the root intact.
    • Place the onion cut-side down and make cuts from the top almost to the root, about 1/8-inch apart. Make sure not to cut all the way through. This will create the “blooming” effect.
    • Gently separate the layers of the onion.
  2. Set Up Breading Stations:
    • In one bowl, mix the flour with paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
    • In another bowl, beat the eggs.
    • In a third bowl, place the breadcrumbs.
  3. Bread the Onions:
    • Dredge the onions in the flour mixture, ensuring each layer gets coated.
    • Dip the onions in the beaten eggs, making sure to coat thoroughly.
    • Finally, coat the onions with breadcrumbs, pressing gently to adhere.
  4. Air Fry the Onions:
    • Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C).
    • Spray the air fryer basket with cooking spray.
    • Place the onions in the basket, cut side up, and spray the tops lightly with cooking spray.
    • Air fry for 10-15 minutes or until the onions are golden brown and crispy. The exact time may vary depending on your air fryer model.
  5. Serve:
    • Carefully remove the blooming onions from the air fryer.
    • Serve with your favorite dipping sauce, such as ranch dressing or a spicy mayo.

Enjoy your mini air fryer blooming onions!
