Classic Buffalo Chicken Wings

Ingredients:

  • 2 lbs chicken wings, separated into drumettes and flats
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1/2 cup hot sauce (such as Frank’s RedHot)
  • 1 tbsp white vinegar
  • Celery sticks and blue cheese dressing, for serving

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the Oven:
    • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil and place a wire rack on top. This will help the wings cook evenly and get crispy.
  2. Prepare the Wings:
    • Pat the chicken wings dry with paper towels. This step is crucial for achieving a crispy texture.
    • In a large bowl, combine the salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and paprika. Add the chicken wings and toss to coat them evenly with the seasoning mixture.
    • Drizzle the vegetable oil over the wings and toss again to ensure they are well coated.
  3. Bake the Wings:
    • Arrange the seasoned wings in a single layer on the wire rack. Make sure they are not touching each other to allow for even cooking.
    • Bake in the preheated oven for 45-50 minutes, or until the wings are golden brown and crispy. Flip the wings halfway through cooking to ensure they cook evenly.
  4. Prepare the Buffalo Sauce:
    • While the wings are baking, prepare the buffalo sauce. In a small saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat.
    • Once the butter has melted, add the hot sauce and white vinegar. Stir to combine and heat until the sauce is warmed through. Remove from heat.
  5. Coat the Wings:
    • When the wings are done baking, transfer them to a large bowl. Pour the buffalo sauce over the wings and toss to coat them evenly.
  6. Serve:
    • Serve the buffalo wings hot with celery sticks and blue cheese dressing on the side.

Tips:

  • For extra crispy wings, you can broil them for an additional 2-3 minutes after baking.
  • Adjust the amount of hot sauce to your taste preference.
  • You can also grill the wings instead of baking them for a smoky flavor.
