Here’s a delicious recipe for French Silk Brownies, combining rich chocolate brownies with a smooth and creamy French silk topping.

French Silk Brownies Recipe

Ingredients

For the Brownies:

  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

For the French Silk Topping:

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, room temperature
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 2 ounces unsweetened chocolate, melted and cooled
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 4 large eggs
  • Whipped cream, for topping (optional)
  • Chocolate shavings or cocoa powder, for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Brownies:
    1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper.
    2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the melted butter and granulated sugar. Mix well until fully combined.
    3. Add the cocoa powder to the butter-sugar mixture and stir until smooth.
    4. Beat in the eggs, one at a time, ensuring each egg is fully incorporated before adding the next. Stir in the vanilla extract.
    5. Gradually fold in the flour and salt until just combined. Do not overmix.
    6. Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread it evenly.
    7. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with only a few moist crumbs.
    8. Allow the brownies to cool completely in the pan.
  2. Prepare the French Silk Topping:
    1. In a large mixing bowl, cream the room-temperature butter until light and fluffy.
    2. Gradually add the granulated sugar, beating well after each addition until the mixture is light and fluffy.
    3. Mix in the melted and cooled unsweetened chocolate and vanilla extract until fully combined.
    4. Add the eggs one at a time, beating for 5 minutes after each addition. This step is crucial to achieve the silky texture.
    5. Once all the eggs are incorporated and the mixture is smooth and silky, spread the French silk topping evenly over the cooled brownies.
  3. Finishing Touches:
    1. Chill the brownies in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours to allow the topping to set.
    2. Before serving, you can top with whipped cream and garnish with chocolate shavings or a dusting of cocoa powder, if desired.
  4. Serving:
