A Jalapeño Popper Sandwich is a delightful twist on the classic jalapeño popper appetizer, transformed into a tasty sandwich. Here’s a simple recipe you can try:
Ingredients:
- 4 large jalapeño peppers, sliced in half lengthwise and seeds removed
- 4 ounces cream cheese, softened
- 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 8 slices of bread (your choice of bread, such as white, whole wheat, or sourdough)
- Butter or olive oil for grilling
- Optional: cooked bacon slices, sliced tomatoes, lettuce leaves
Instructions:
- Preheat your grill or a grill pan over medium heat.
- In a small bowl, mix together the softened cream cheese and shredded cheddar cheese until well combined.
- Spread the cream cheese mixture evenly onto one side of each slice of bread.
- Place 2 jalapeño pepper halves on top of the cream cheese mixture on 4 slices of bread. If desired, add bacon slices, tomato slices, or lettuce leaves on top of the jalapeños.
- Top each sandwich with the remaining slices of bread, cream cheese side down, to form sandwiches.
- Lightly butter or brush olive oil on the outsides of the sandwiches.
- Place the sandwiches on the preheated grill or grill pan. Cook for 3-4 minutes on each side, or until the bread is golden brown and crispy, and the cheese is melted.
- Remove the sandwiches from the grill and let them cool slightly before serving.
- Cut the sandwiches in half diagonally and serve hot.
