Baked French Onion Chicken Recipe

Sure! Here’s a recipe for Baked French Onion Chicken:

Ingredients:

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 2 large onions, thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1 teaspoon dried rosemary
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 cup shredded Gruyere cheese
  • 1/2 cup shredded Parmesan cheese
  • Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Season chicken breasts with salt and pepper on both sides.
  3. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add chicken breasts and cook until browned on both sides, about 3-4 minutes per side. Remove chicken from skillet and set aside.
  4. In the same skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Add sliced onions and cook, stirring occasionally, until onions are caramelized and golden brown, about 15-20 minutes.
  5. Add minced garlic, thyme, and rosemary to the skillet with the onions. Cook for an additional 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
  6. Pour beef broth into the skillet and stir, scraping up any browned bits from the bottom of the pan. Let simmer for 2-3 minutes.
  7. Return the chicken breasts to the skillet, nestling them into the onion mixture. Spoon some of the onion mixture over the top of each chicken breast.
  8. Sprinkle shredded Gruyere cheese and Parmesan cheese over the top of each chicken breast.
  9. Transfer the skillet to the preheated oven and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  10. Remove from the oven and garnish with fresh parsley, if desired.
  11. Serve the baked French onion chicken hot, with any remaining onion mixture spooned over the top.
