Posted on January 20, 2024

Certainly! Here’s a simple recipe for cabbage casserole:

Ingredients:

  • 1 medium-sized cabbage, shredded
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 lb ground beef or turkey
  • 1 cup rice, uncooked
  • 1 can (14 oz) diced tomatoes, undrained
  • 1 can (8 oz) tomato sauce
  • 1 cup chicken or vegetable broth
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 cups shredded cheese (cheddar or your preferred type)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large skillet, brown the ground beef or turkey over medium heat. Drain any excess fat.
  3. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet. Cook until the onion is softened.
  4. Stir in the shredded cabbage and cook until it begins to wilt.
  5. Add the uncooked rice, diced tomatoes (with their juice), tomato sauce, chicken or vegetable broth, dried oregano, dried basil, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
  6. Transfer the mixture to a greased casserole dish.
  7. Sprinkle the shredded cheese evenly over the top.
  8. Cover the casserole dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for about 45 minutes.
  9. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes or until the cheese is melted and bubbly, and the rice is cooked through.
  10. Allow the cabbage casserole to cool for a few minutes before serving.

Enjoy your cabbage casserole! Feel free to customize the recipe by adding your favorite herbs, spices, or additional vegetables.
