Ingredients:

  • 1 cup mashed ripe bananas (about 2-3 medium bananas)
  • 1/3 cup melted unsalted butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional)
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a square baking pan.
  2. In a mixing bowl, mash the ripe bananas with a fork until smooth.
  3. Add melted butter to the mashed bananas and mix well.
  4. Stir in the sugar, beaten egg, and vanilla extract into the banana-butter mixture.
  5. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
  6. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
  7. If desired, fold in chopped nuts and chocolate chips into the batter.
