A Salted Caramel Kentucky Butter Cake is a delightful and indulgent dessert that combines the rich flavors of caramel, butter, and a touch of salt. Here’s a basic recipe for you to try:

Ingredients:

For the Cake:

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 4 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract

For the Salted Caramel Sauce:

  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 6 tablespoons unsalted butter, cut into pieces
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon sea salt (adjust to taste)

Instructions:

1. Preheat the Oven:

  • Preheat your oven to 325°F (163°C). Grease and flour a bundt cake pan.

2. Make the Cake Batter:

  • In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, salt, baking powder, and baking soda.
  • In another bowl, beat together softened butter, buttermilk, eggs, and vanilla until well combined.
  • Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, mixing until smooth.

3. Bake the Cake:

  • Pour the batter into the prepared bundt pan.
  • Bake for about 60-70 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  • Allow the cake to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes, then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely.

4. Make the Salted Caramel Sauce:

  • In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the granulated sugar, stirring constantly until it turns into a smooth amber-colored liquid.
  • Add the butter and stir until melted and combined.
  • Slowly pour in the heavy cream while continuing to stir. Be careful as it may bubble.
  • Remove the saucepan from heat and stir in the sea salt. Allow the caramel sauce to cool slightly.

5. Drizzle with Caramel Sauce:

  • Once the cake has cooled, drizzle the salted caramel sauce over the top. You can also poke holes in the cake with a skewer before drizzling to allow the caramel to seep into the cake.

6. Serve:

  • Slice and serve the Salted Caramel Kentucky Butter Cake. You can also garnish with additional sea salt or a dollop of whipped cream if desired.

This cake is sure to be a hit with its rich, buttery flavor and the perfect balance of sweetness and saltiness. Enjoy!
