A cake roll (also called a Swiss roll or jelly roll) is a type of sponge cake that’s baked in a thin layer, filled (commonly with cream, jam, or frosting), and then rolled into a log shape. It’s light, fluffy, and visually impressive when sliced to reveal the spiral of cake and filling.
