Here’s a flavorful Bourbon BBQ Meatball Subs recipe that’s perfect for game day, weeknight dinners, or any time you want comfort food with a kick.


🍔 Bourbon BBQ Meatball Subs

🔹 Ingredients

For the Meatballs:

  • 1 lb ground beef (or mix with pork)

  • 1/3 cup breadcrumbs

  • 1 egg

  • 2 tbsp milk

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese

  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce

  • 1 tsp salt

  • 1/2 tsp black pepper

  • 1 tsp onion powder

  • 1 tbsp fresh parsley (optional)

For the Bourbon BBQ Sauce:

  • 1 cup BBQ sauce (your favorite brand)

  • 1/4 cup bourbon

  • 2 tbsp brown sugar

  • 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar

  • 1 tbsp Dijon mustard

  • 1 tsp smoked paprika (optional)

  • Dash of hot sauce (optional, for heat)

For the Subs:

  • 4 hoagie rolls or sub rolls

  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella or provolone

  • Optional: caramelized onions, pickles, jalapeños


🔹 Instructions

1. Make the Meatballs

  • Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).

  • In a large bowl, mix all meatball ingredients until just combined. Avoid overmixing.

  • Form into 1-inch meatballs (makes ~16-20).

  • Place on a lined baking sheet and bake for 15–18 minutes, or until cooked through.

2. Make the Bourbon BBQ Sauce

  • While meatballs bake, combine all sauce ingredients in a saucepan over medium heat.

  • Simmer for 8–10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until slightly thickened and bourbon has cooked off.

  • Add cooked meatballs to the sauce, stir to coat, and simmer on low for 5–10 minutes.

3. Assemble the Subs

  • Preheat broiler (optional).

  • Toast the hoagie rolls lightly.

  • Spoon meatballs and sauce into rolls, top with shredded cheese.

  • Place under the broiler for 2–3 minutes, until cheese is melted and bubbly.
