Baking Soda Dinosaur Eggs

Posted on July 3, 2025 by admin

Baking Soda Dinosaur Eggs are a fun and fizzy science + sensory activity where kids can “hatch” dinosaurs from homemade eggs using a vinegar reaction. Here’s how to make them:

🥚 DIY Baking Soda Dinosaur Eggs

🧂 Ingredients:

  • 2 cups baking soda

  • ½ cup water (adjust as needed)

  • A few drops food coloring (optional)

  • Small plastic dinosaur toys

  • Vinegar (for hatching)

  • Dropper, spray bottle, or small cup (to add vinegar)

🛠️ Instructions:

  1. Make the Egg Dough

    • In a bowl, mix baking soda and food coloring (if using).

    • Slowly add water, a little at a time, and stir until you get a moldable, damp-sand consistency.

  2. Form the Eggs

    • Take a small dinosaur toy, wrap the baking soda dough around it, and shape it like an egg.

    • Press firmly so it holds together.

  3. Let Them Dry

    • Set the eggs on a tray and let them air dry overnight or place in the freezer for 30–60 minutes to speed things up.

  4. Time to Hatch!

    • Give kids droppers or spray bottles filled with vinegar.

    • Let them squirt the eggs and watch the fizzy reaction as the dinosaurs “hatch”!
