Here’s a Chocolate Cherry Swiss Roll recipe — a rich, tender chocolate sponge rolled around a fluffy cherry filling, perfect for a show-stopping dessert.


🍫🍒 Chocolate Cherry Swiss Roll Recipe

Ingredients

For the Chocolate Sponge:

  • 4 large eggs

  • 100g (½ cup) granulated sugar

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

  • 30g (¼ cup) unsweetened cocoa powder

  • 60g (½ cup) all-purpose flour

  • ½ tsp baking powder

  • Pinch of salt

For the Cherry Filling:

  • 200ml (¾ cup + 1 tbsp) heavy cream

  • 2 tbsp powdered sugar

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

  • 150g (1 cup) cherry pie filling or chopped pitted cherries (fresh or canned)

For the Chocolate Ganache (optional topping):

  • 100g (3.5 oz) dark chocolate, chopped

  • 100ml (⅓ cup + 1 tbsp) heavy cream


Instructions

1. Prepare the Chocolate Sponge:

  1. Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F). Line a 10×15-inch jelly roll pan with parchment paper.

  2. In a large bowl, beat eggs and sugar with an electric mixer for about 5–6 minutes, until thick and pale.

  3. Add vanilla extract.

  4. Sift in flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt. Gently fold in until just combined.

  5. Pour batter into prepared pan and spread evenly.

  6. Bake for 10–12 minutes, or until cake springs back when touched.

  7. Remove from oven, dust the top with powdered sugar, and turn onto a clean kitchen towel. Peel off parchment paper.

  8. While still warm, roll the cake up with the towel (from short side). Let cool completely.

2. Make the Cherry Filling:

  1. Whip heavy cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla until stiff peaks form.

  2. Fold in the cherry pie filling or chopped cherries gently.

3. Assemble the Swiss Roll:

  1. Unroll the cooled sponge cake carefully.

  2. Spread the cherry whipped cream filling evenly over the surface.

  3. Re-roll the cake (without the towel), wrap in plastic wrap, and chill for at least 1 hour.

4. Ganache Topping (optional):

  1. Heat cream until just simmering, then pour over chopped chocolate.

  2. Let sit 1–2 minutes, then stir until smooth.

  3. Pour over the roll and spread gently. Chill again to set.


To Serve:

Slice and serve chilled or at room temperature. Garnish with fresh cherries, chocolate curls, or powdered sugar.
