Ingredients

For the Saffron Rice:

  • 1 ½ cups basmati or jasmine rice

  • 3 cups chicken or vegetable broth

  • 1 pinch saffron threads (steeped in 2 tbsp warm water for 5 min)

  • 1 tbsp olive oil or butter

  • Salt to taste

For the Steak & Shrimp:

  • 1 lb sirloin or ribeye steak, cut into bite-sized pieces

  • ½ lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined

  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter

  • 4 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 tbsp olive oil

  • 1 tsp smoked paprika

  • 1 tsp lemon juice

  • Salt & pepper to taste

  • Fresh parsley (for garnish)


Instructions

1. Cook the Saffron Rice:

  • Rinse rice under cold water until the water runs clear.

  • In a pot, heat the olive oil/butter and sauté the rice for 2-3 minutes.

  • Add broth, saffron threads with steeping liquid, and salt. Bring to a boil.

  • Cover, reduce to low heat, and simmer for 15 minutes or until rice is tender.

  • Fluff with a fork before serving.

2. Cook the Steak:

  • Season steak cubes with salt, pepper, and paprika.

  • Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat.

  • Sear steak for about 2-3 minutes per side until browned but juicy.

  • Remove and set aside.

3. Cook the Shrimp:

  • In the same pan, add butter and garlic. Sauté for 30 seconds.

  • Add shrimp and cook until pink (about 1-2 minutes per side).

  • Return steak to the pan, toss everything together with lemon juice and parsley.

4. Assemble:

  • Serve the garlic butter steak & shrimp hot over a bed of saffron rice.

  • Spoon extra garlic butter from the pan over the top.
