World’s Best Butter Cookies

Here’s a recipe for World’s Best Butter Cookies! These are soft, buttery, and melt-in-your-mouth perfect. Simple ingredients, but so rich in flavor!

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened

  • 3/4 cup powdered sugar

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

  • 1/4 tsp salt

  • 1/4 cup cornstarch (this makes them extra tender!)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.

  2. Cream the Butter and Sugar: In a large bowl, beat the softened butter and powdered sugar together until light and fluffy. This should take about 3-4 minutes with a hand mixer or stand mixer.

  3. Add Vanilla: Add the vanilla extract and continue mixing.

  4. Combine Dry Ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, salt, and cornstarch.

  5. Mix Dry and Wet Ingredients: Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until just combined. Be careful not to overwork the dough.

  6. Shape the Cookies: Scoop out tablespoon-sized portions of dough and roll them into balls. You can gently flatten them with the back of a fork or your fingers to create a simple round shape.

  7. Bake: Place the cookies on the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges just begin to turn golden brown.

  8. Cool: Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for about 5 minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Optional:

  • Sprinkle with sugar: You can sprinkle some extra powdered sugar on top for a little sweetness or even a dash of cinnamon for extra flavor.

  • Decorate: If you like, you can decorate them with colorful sprinkles or drizzle with chocolate.
