Shrimp and Steak Tacos — now that’s a surf-and-turf combo worth celebrating! Here’s a super flavorful recipe idea that balances the boldness of steak with the juicy sweetness of shrimp, all wrapped up in a taco party.


🌮 Shrimp and Steak Tacos

Ingredients:

For the Steak:

  • 1 lb flank steak or skirt steak

  • 1 tbsp olive oil

  • 1 tsp chili powder

  • 1 tsp cumin

  • 1/2 tsp smoked paprika

  • Salt & pepper to taste

  • Juice of 1 lime

For the Shrimp:

  • 1 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined

  • 1 tbsp olive oil

  • 1 tsp garlic powder

  • 1 tsp smoked paprika

  • 1/2 tsp cayenne (optional for heat)

  • Salt & pepper

  • Juice of 1/2 lime

Toppings (get creative!):

  • Shredded cabbage or lettuce

  • Avocado or guacamole

  • Pico de gallo or diced tomatoes

  • Fresh cilantro

  • Crumbled cotija or shredded cheese

  • Lime wedges

  • Sour cream or chipotle mayo

Tortillas:

  • Corn or flour tortillas, warmed


🔥 Instructions:

  1. Marinate the Steak:

    • Mix olive oil, spices, lime juice, salt, and pepper in a bowl. Rub onto steak and let it marinate for at least 30 minutes (overnight if you have time).

  2. Cook the Steak:

    • Grill or pan-sear on high heat for 3–4 minutes per side (medium rare to medium). Let it rest, then slice thinly against the grain.

  3. Season & Cook the Shrimp:

    • Toss shrimp in olive oil, spices, and lime juice. Cook in a hot skillet or grill for 2–3 minutes per side until pink and slightly charred.

  4. Assemble the Tacos:

    • Warm tortillas, layer with cabbage or lettuce, then add sliced steak and shrimp. Top with your favorite fixings.

  5. Finish Strong:

    • Squeeze fresh lime over the top and maybe a drizzle of chipotle mayo or crema.
