📋 Ingredients

For the Dough:

  • 1 cup warm milk (about 110°F)

  • 2¼ tsp (1 packet) active dry yeast

  • ¼ cup granulated sugar

  • 1 large egg

  • ¼ cup unsalted butter, melted

  • 3 to 3½ cups all-purpose flour

  • 1 tsp salt

For the Filling:

  • ½ cup unsalted butter, very soft or melted

  • ¾ cup brown sugar, packed

  • 2 tbsp ground cinnamon

For the Glaze:

  • 1 cup powdered sugar

  • 1–2 tbsp milk

  • ½ tsp vanilla extract

1. Make the Dough:

  1. In a large bowl, combine the warm milk, yeast, and sugar. Let it sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy.

  2. Add the egg, melted butter, and salt. Mix well.

  3. Gradually add flour, 1 cup at a time, until a soft dough forms.

  4. Knead for about 5–8 minutes (by hand or mixer) until the dough is smooth and elastic.

  5. Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.

2. Prepare the Filling:

  • Mix the brown sugar and cinnamon together in a small bowl.

3. Assemble the Twists:

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

  2. Punch down the dough and roll it out on a floured surface into a rectangle (about 12×16 inches).

  3. Spread the softened or melted butter over the dough.

  4. Sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar mixture evenly on top.

  5. Fold the dough in half lengthwise (like a book), gently press down, then cut into 1-inch strips.

  6. Twist each strip several times and place them on the baking sheet.

  7. Optional: Brush tops with a little melted butter for extra richness.

4. Bake:

  • Bake for 15–18 minutes or until golden brown.

5. Glaze:

  • Mix powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla until smooth. Drizzle over warm breadtwists.


💡 Tips:

  • For extra indulgence, add a cream cheese glaze instead.

  • These are best served warm and fresh out of the oven.
