Ooh, that sounds like a dream—classic and comforting! Want the full recipe for a Classic Vanilla Butter Cake with Buttermilk Sauce, or just curious about how to pair the two?

Here’s a full version if you’re baking it up:

🍰 Classic Vanilla Butter Cake

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup (226g) unsalted butter, softened

  • 2 cups (400g) granulated sugar

  • 4 large eggs

  • 1 tbsp vanilla extract

  • 3 cups (360g) all-purpose flour

  • 1 tbsp baking powder

  • ½ tsp salt

  • 1 cup (240ml) whole milk (or substitute part with buttermilk for extra richness)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a bundt or 9×13-inch pan.

  2. Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy (3–5 mins).

  3. Beat in eggs one at a time, then vanilla.

  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.

  5. Add dry ingredients to the butter mixture in 3 parts, alternating with milk. Begin and end with flour.

  6. Pour into prepared pan and bake 45–55 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.

  7. Let cool for 10 minutes in the pan, then turn out onto a wire rack.
