Cheesy Mushroom and Garlic Toasts

Here’s a delicious recipe for Cheesy Mushroom and Garlic Toasts:

Ingredients:

  • 4 slices of your favorite bread (such as sourdough, baguette, or whole grain)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil (for brushing the bread)
  • 200g (7 oz) mushrooms, sliced
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 teaspoon dried thyme (optional)
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheese (cheddar, mozzarella, or a mix)
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (optional, for garnish)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Toasts:
    • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
    • Lightly brush both sides of the bread slices with olive oil and place them on a baking sheet.
    • Toast the bread in the oven for about 5-7 minutes or until golden and crispy. Remove from the oven.
  2. Cook the Mushrooms:
    • While the bread is toasting, heat the butter in a large skillet over medium heat.
    • Add the sliced mushrooms and cook for about 5-7 minutes, until they’re softened and browned.
    • Add the minced garlic and thyme (if using) and cook for another 1-2 minutes, until fragrant. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  3. Assemble the Toasts:
    • Once the bread is toasted, evenly distribute the mushroom and garlic mixture over each slice.
    • Sprinkle the shredded cheese on top of each toast.
  4. Melt the Cheese:
    • Return the toasts to the oven for another 3-5 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  5. Serve:
    • Remove from the oven and garnish with freshly chopped parsley, if desired.
    • Serve warm and enjoy your cheesy mushroom and garlic toasts!

These toasts make for a great snack, appetizer, or even a light meal.
