A savory beef and cheese biscuit sounds delicious! Here’s a simple recipe to make them:

Ingredients:

  • For the biscuit dough:
    • 2 cups all-purpose flour
    • 1 tablespoon baking powder
    • 1 teaspoon salt
    • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
    • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder (optional)
    • 1/2 cup cold unsalted butter, cubed
    • 1 cup whole milk (or buttermilk for a richer flavor)
  • For the filling:
    • 1/2 lb ground beef
    • 1/2 small onion, finely chopped
    • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano or Italian seasoning
    • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (or your favorite cheese)
    • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions:

1. Prepare the Biscuit Dough:

  • Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
  • In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, and any optional spices (garlic powder, onion powder).
  • Cut the cold butter into the flour mixture using a pastry cutter or your fingers until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  • Pour in the milk and gently stir until the dough just comes together. Be careful not to overmix.

2. Prepare the Beef Filling:

  • In a skillet, cook the ground beef over medium heat until browned, breaking it up as it cooks.
  • Add the chopped onion and cook until softened, about 3-4 minutes.
  • Season with oregano, salt, and pepper. Remove from heat and stir in the shredded cheese until melted and well combined.

3. Assemble the Biscuits:

  • On a lightly floured surface, turn out the biscuit dough and roll it out into a 1/2-inch thick rectangle.
  • Spoon the beef and cheese mixture evenly onto half of the dough. Fold the other half of the dough over the filling and press the edges to seal.
  • Using a biscuit cutter or a glass, cut out rounds of dough. Press the cutter straight down without twisting to ensure fluffy biscuits.

4. Bake:

  • Place the biscuits on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, spacing them slightly apart.
  • Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the biscuits are golden brown on top.

5. Serve:

  • Serve warm with extra cheese or a dipping sauce if you like. These biscuits are great as a savory breakfast or a snack!

Enjoy your savory beef and cheese biscuits!
